What's the date?

Have you checked the date on your camera lately? Having the correct date and time set on your camera is critical to enjoy the benefits of digital photography. This is one piece of what is called metadata that is written to your .jpg file when you take a picture. If you are using Memory Manager software to organize your pictures they will automatically line up in perfect chronological order without you doing anything.

If you are attending an event where multiple people will be taking pictures and then you will be sharing with each other after the event (weddings, reunions, etc.) it is important to have everyone check the date and time on their cameras before the event. That way when the photos are merged together you will have them all in order. It will save you a ton of time processing the photos later if you take a few minutes to sync your cameras before the event. Remember to check the AM/PM on the time too.

I have encountered some cameras of customers that reset the date and time when they change the battery. Become familiar with your camera to see if yours does this and if it does remember to reset it when you add new batteries.

When you checked was the date on your camera correct?
