Documenting your collections

Many of us have special things we collect.  It is important to take the time to document these collections so we will remember and can share the significance of each item with friends and family.  If your collection is still a work in progress a traditional or PicFolio album may be a better option than a StoryBook because you can easily add to it over time.  It is very simple to create one of these albums. All you need to do is photograph each item and write a little story to go with each one.  If you are using a traditional album you can just write the story on the album page or you can use decorative journal boxes.  The amount of decoration is up to you.  If you are using a PicFolio album you can use the Milestones Kits to document the story of each item.  Or if you use StoryBook Creator Plus or sbcStudio you can create individual pictures that include both the photo and the story, as shown here. 

Here are the steps you need to take if you want to combine the photos and stories in StoryBook Creator Plus or sbcStudio:

1. Create a new project in a custom size - if you are doing a PicFolio you will want to use the 4x6 size.  You will need two projects one for 4x6 horizontal and one for 4x6 vertical. 

2. Then all you need to do is add your photo and journaling.

3. When you are finished go to the Home Tab and choose the drop down arrow under the Save icon and pick Save Pages As.  Choose where to save the pictures, save them as .jpg files at the highest resolution.  Now you can print the photos at your favorite photo processor and insert them in your album.

Many of us have Holiday collections - ornaments, Santas, Angels, Snowmen, Carolers, etc.  Now is a good time to at least get pictures of your collection before they get packed away for another year.  Then when you are ready you will have the pictures and can add the journaling and begin your album.
